Pesquisadores chineses completam mapa de variação genética do arroz

Shenzhen – Pesquisadores chineses concluíram um mapa de variação genética digital do arroz com base em mais de 10.000 amostras de arroz, fornecendo uma nova ferramenta para um estudo mais aprofundado das variações naturais do grão, especialmente variantes raras.
O arroz é um dos alimentos e culturas básicas mais importantes do mundo. Sua variação natural fornece uma base genética chave para sua possível modificação genética e reprodução moderna.
“O resultado mais recente da pesquisa é como um ‘mapa digital’ para pesquisas sobre arroz, oferecendo orientações claras sobre sua reprodução”, disse Shang Lianguang, pesquisador do Instituto de Genômica Agrícola de Shenzhen, da Academia Chinesa de Ciências Agrícolas.
Com a ajuda dese mapa, os pesquisadores corrigiram erros na classificação de algumas variedades de arroz indica e japonica, analisaram extensivamente as frequências populacionais de genes funcionais importantes em diferentes subpopulações de arroz e identificaram excelentes variações naturais entre elas.
Com base no mapa, eles também estabeleceram uma plataforma de banco de dados online para usuários globais, fornecendo serviços científicos e de pesquisa relativos para estudos sobre arroz.
O resultado da pesquisa foi publicado recentemente na revista Nucleic Acid Research.
