Atividade econômica cresce 1,7% em fevereiro, diz BC

A atividade econômica registrou crescimento, em fevereiro, pelo décimo mês consecutivo. É o que mostra o Índice de Atividade Econômica do Banco Central (IBC-Br), divulgado hoje (19) pelo Banco Central (BC).
Em fevereiro, o índice apresentou alta de 1,7% na comparação com janeiro, segundo dados dessazonalizados (ajustados para o período). Em relação a fevereiro de 2020, a expansão ficou em 0,98% (sem ajustes).
No primeiro bimestre comparado ao mesmo período de 2019, foi registrado crescimento de 0,23%. Em 12 meses terminados em fevereiro de 2021, houve retração de 4,02%.
O IBC-Br é uma forma de avaliar a evolução da atividade econômica brasileira e ajuda o BC a tomar suas decisões sobre a taxa básica de juros, a Selic.
O índice incorpora informações sobre o nível de atividade dos três setores da economia: indústria, comércio e serviços e agropecuária, além do volume de impostos.
Mas o indicador oficial, com metodologia diferente do IBC-Br, é o Produto Interno Bruto (PIB) – a soma de todas as riquezas produzidas pelo país, calculado pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE) e divulgado trimestralmente.
